FBI Offering $10,000 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest and Conviction in Fatal Brawley Shooting
BRAWLEY — The FBI’s San Diego Field Office, in coordination with the Brawley Police Department, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old David Mora Barraza.
The incident occurred on March 2, 2025, at approximately 2:18 a.m., when Brawley Police officers responded to reports of gunfire near East K Street and South 17th Street. Upon arrival, officers found Barraza suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
“The FBI is proud to assist our law enforcement partners in their search for the individuals responsible for this violent crime,” said Special Agent in Charge Mark Dargis of the FBI San Diego Field Office. “Every victim of violent crime deserves justice. FBI San Diego is committed to keeping our communities safe and will work with our local partners at Brawley PD to help locate and hold these perpetrators accountable for their actions.”
Brawley Police Chief Jimmy Duran described the incident as a “senseless act of violence” that has deeply impacted the community. “We are committed to working closely with the FBI and our law enforcement partners to pursue justice for David Mora Barraza and his loved ones,” Duran said. “We urge anyone with information to come forward — no detail is too small.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the individuals allegedly involved to contact their nearest FBI field office, the closest U.S. embassy, or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov. Tips can be provided anonymously.
