Imperial County District Attorney’s Office Unveils New Logo and Mission Statement

The Imperial County District Attorney’s Office has revealed a newly designed logo and mission statement, aiming to more closely reflect the values of justice, transparency, and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The unveiling took place Tuesday at the DA’s Office in El Centro and was attended by community members, local officials, and regional partners.

The updated mission statement reads:

“The District Attorney pursues justice and the safety of our community by safeguarding the rights of all people through the transparent enforcement of laws with integrity and fairness.”

At the center of the new visual identity is a stylized depiction of Lady Justice, blindfolded and holding both a sword and scales—traditional symbols of impartiality and accountability. Surrounding her are visual elements inspired by the Imperial Valley’s landscape and heritage: sprawling desert, fertile fields, canal waters, and the iconic Mount Signal.

Three birds soaring above the landscape represent unity, balance, and harmony. A radiant sun, inspired by the “Sunburst” olla on display at the Imperial Valley Desert Museum, symbolizes the legacy of the region’s First Peoples—including the Kumeyaay, Quechan, Cahuilla, and Cocopah tribes.

The conceptual design was developed with the help of Mercy Aldrete, a local artist and educator known for her work through “Art with Mercy.” Aldrete collaborated with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure the logo conveyed both artistic integrity and cultural meaning.

“This new identity reflects not only the principles our office stands for—justice, fairness, and integrity—but also the unique beauty, culture, and history of the people we serve,” said District Attorney George Marquez during the announcement.

Officials say the new branding will be gradually integrated across official materials, signage, and digital platforms in the coming weeks.
