Salton City Man Found Dead in Active Homicide Investigation

SALTON CITY, Calif. — The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after deputies discovered a deceased man under suspicious circumstances Sunday morning in Salton City.

According to a press release By Imperial County sheriff department, dispatchers received a call at approximately 7:42 a.m. on May 17 from a citizen who reported possibly locating a deceased body near Plaza Avenue and Panorama Avenue.

Responding deputies arrived at the scene and located a deceased individual. Authorities stated the scene appeared suspicious in nature, prompting the response of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit, Scientific Investigations Unit, and Coroner’s Unit.

The decedent was later identified as Pedro Montes Jr., a 34-year-old man from Salton City. Officials confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities said no additional details are being released at this time in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
