IID Director Alex Cardenas Chosen to Speak at National Public Power Conferenc
Imperial Irrigation District (IID) Director Alex Cardenas has been invited to speak at a national conference hosted by the American Public Power Association (APPA). He will join a panel discussing how utility boards, like IID’s, can be more involved in supporting their communities and promoting public power.
Cardenas is the second Vice President of APPA’s Policy Makers Council, a group of 40 elected officials from across the U.S. who work together to support laws and regulations that help public utilities.
The panel he’s joining is titled “Engaging Your Board in Advocacy,” and will also feature representatives from utilities in Florida and Wisconsin. The focus will be on how elected officials can better represent their utility and advocate for their customers.
Cardenas has spoken before at APPA events, including a February rally in Washington, D.C., where he encouraged Congress to invest more in the national power grid.
The APPA represents nearly 2,000 public power utilities across the country. The conference will take place the week of June 6.
