Imperial Valley Football: Week 2 Sees Five Local Teams Earn Victories
IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif. – Week 2 of the 2026 high school football season is officially in the books, with five Imperial Valley teams picking up victories Friday night.
The Holtville Vikings recorded the highest-scoring victory of the week, defeating St. Pius X 66–31.
The Central Spartans also earned a win in a high-scoring matchup, defeating Palm Desert 33–30 in overtime.
Vincent Memorial continued its undefeated start to the season with a 27–14 victory over Canyon Hills, while Calipatria defeated Foothills Christian 25–22.
Calexico also picked up its first win of the season, shutting out Southwest 6–0.
Meanwhile, Imperial fell to Helix 28–7, Brawley suffered a 44–0 loss to Rancho Bernardo, and Palo Verde Valley fell to Shadow Hills 26–6.

1. Holtville Vikings (2–0)
Holtville takes the top spot after following a narrow 17–15 Week 1 win over Ramona with a dominant 66–31 victory over St. Pius X. The Vikings have scored 83 points through two games and remain undefeated.
2. Vincent Memorial Scots (2–0)
The Scots remain undefeated after opening the season with a 41–6 win over Temecula Prep and following it with a 27–14 victory over Canyon Hills. Vincent Memorial has been one of the Valley’s most consistent teams through two weeks.
3. Central Spartans (1–1)
Central moves up significantly after its Week 2 performance against Palm Desert. The Spartans overcame Palm Desert 33–30 in overtime, showing they can compete in a high-scoring game after opening the season with a loss to La Costa Canyon.
4. Calipatria Hornets (1–0)
Calipatria is undefeated after opening its season with a 25–22 win over Foothills Christian. The Hornets only have one game on their record because of their Week 1 bye, but they made the most of their season opener.
5. Imperial Tigers (1–1)
Imperial opened the season with a 25–20 win over Mission Bay but fell to Helix 28–7 in Week 2. The Tigers remain a team to watch, but the Week 2 loss drops them in the rankings.
6. Calexico Bulldogs (1–1)
After losing to Palo Verde in Week 1, Calexico bounced back with a 6–0 shutout of Southwest. The Bulldogs’ defense delivered a strong performance, but their 1–1 record keeps them in the middle of the rankings.
7. Palo Verde Valley Yellowjackets (1–1)
Palo Verde Valley opened the season with a 40–20 win over Calexico before falling to Shadow Hills 26–6 in Week 2. The Yellowjackets have shown they can score, but the Week 2 loss keeps them below the teams ahead of them.
8. Southwest Eagles (1–1)
Southwest opened the season with a 7–0 shutout of San Ysidro but was shut out itself by Calexico 6–0 in Week 2. The Eagles are still .500, but their offense has struggled to produce against Calexico.
9. Brawley Wildcats (0–2)
Brawley remains winless after losses to Palm Desert and Rancho Bernardo. The Wildcats fell 44–0 to Rancho Bernardo in Week 2 and currently sit at 0–2.
