Calexico Police Investigating Attempted Kidnapping at Cordova Park: Suspect still at large

CALEXICO, Calif. — The Calexico Police Department is actively investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred at Cordova Park on the evening of May 11, 2025. The suspect remains at large, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any relevant information.

At approximately 7:31 p.m., officers responded to reports of a possible attempted abduction at Cordova park, located in northeast Calexico. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victims: a 7-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Hispanic woman—described as wearing a pink shirt and having long brown hair—approached the children and attempted to lure them with candy. She then allegedly grabbed the 7-year-old by the arm and tried to take her. The child managed to break free and escape.

The suspect then reportedly grabbed the 4-year-old boy and began walking him toward a nearby vehicle. At that moment, the children’s mother intervened, and the suspect fled on foot.

Witnesses stated the woman was accompanied by an unidentified male. The suspects may have fled in a gray Honda crossover SUV with unknown license plates, which was seen leaving the area. However, it is unclear if they actually entered the vehicle.

Officers canvassed the neighborhood and obtained multiple home surveillance videos, one of which captured an image of the possible suspect vehicle. That footage is currently under review.

The female suspect and her male companion remain unidentified and at large.

Anyone with information related to the incident, the suspects, or the vehicle is urged to contact the Calexico Police Department at (760) 768-2140 or via email at Police@calexico.ca.gov.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
