Honor Health Sciences Expands Nursing Education in Imperial Valley With New RN-to-BSN Program
EL CENTRO, Calif. — A local nursing school is expanding opportunities for Imperial Valley healthcare professionals with the launch of a new hybrid program designed to help registered nurses earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing without leaving the Valley.
Honor Health Sciences, which opened in El Centro in 2022, announced the launch of its hybrid RN-to-BSN program as the school continues to expand its nursing education programs and reach new milestones.
The school has graduated three cohorts from its Vocational Nursing program, with a fourth cohort preparing to graduate in the coming months. More than 50 graduates have gone on to become Licensed Vocational Nurses and are now working in the Imperial Valley, according to Honor Health Sciences.
For local nurses looking to take the next step in their careers, school officials say the new RN-to-BSN program is intended to provide a flexible option while allowing them to continue working and living in the Imperial Valley.
The hybrid program combines online coursework with in-person academic support and is designed specifically for licensed Registered Nurses seeking to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
“The Imperial Valley needs more BSN-prepared nurses, and we continually hear from local nurses asking, ‘What’s next for me?’” said Jeffrey Chan, co-founder of Honor Health Sciences. “We wanted to create a different, unique pathway that will allow nurses to continue their education and advance professionally without having to leave the Valley.”
The program comes as Honor Health Sciences continues to grow as a local provider of nursing education.
The school has also received institutional accreditation from the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, known as ABHES. Honor Health Sciences said it is now pursuing eligibility to participate in federal student aid programs, which could eventually provide additional financial aid opportunities for eligible students.
Jaymee Chan, co-founder and vice president of Honor Health Sciences, said the school was created with the goal of helping future nurses build their careers close to home.
“When we opened our doors, our goal was simple: keep talented future nurses here at home and help address the nursing shortage in our community,” Chan said. “Seeing our graduates in scrubs and working in our local healthcare community shows us that what we started is making a difference.”
Honor Health Sciences said enrollment for the hybrid RN-to-BSN program is now open.
