Imperial Valley to Host First-Ever Public Safety Gala Honoring First Responders
Imperial Valley, CA — On Friday, October 3, 2025, the Imperial Valley will host its first-ever Public Safety Gala, a community-wide event dedicated to honoring the silent heroes who serve and protect the region every day.
Organized by the Imperial Valley 9/11 Committee, the gala carries the theme “Desert Knights,” paying tribute to both the Valley’s unique landscape and the first responders who stand ready to protect, defend, and serve with courage and honor.
The celebration will bring together all sectors of public safety local, state, and federal for a night of recognition. Each department will present its “Officer of the Year” award, highlighting the exceptional dedication and service of standout personnel.
Committee President Robert Amparano said the goal is to highlight those who care for the community every day.
“what we’re doing is recognizing all public safety from all sectors. And so we want to make sure that we, at the 911 Committee, recognize those that take care of us on a daily basis. So that’s one of the big reasons we’re doing this is to make sure that the recognition is given to those that deserve it,” Amparano said.
More than an awards evening, the event invites the community to participate by attending or sponsoring tables in honor of a department of their choice. It also recognizes the tireless efforts of first responders who serve during every emergency, storm, and disaster, whether at home or deployed across California.
Committee Secretary Alex Pereida noted the strong community participation so far.
“We’re pretty well rounded and I said, we’ve got about 10 nominations, and so it’s very good to see,” Pereida said.
“We appreciate all the support from our local agencies, our people that support public safety,” he said.
