Imperial County CEO and Clerk of the Board Officially Terminated After Closed Session Vote
EL CENTRO — The Imperial County Board of Supervisors has officially terminated the employment of County Executive Officer Miguel Figueroa and Clerk of the Board Blanca Acosta, following a unanimous vote in closed session.
County Counsel Eric Havens made the announcement after the Board’s meeting on Tuesday, April 9. According to Havens, Figueroa’s termination was effective April 5, while Acosta’s became effective April 8.
The Board also discussed an item related to the appointment of a new CEO, but Havens said there was no reportable action taken. He did note that direction was given to staff regarding the matter. District 4 Supervisor Ryan Kelley was absent from the meeting.
Both Figueroa and Acosta had been placed on administrative leave approximately one month prior. No specific reason has been publicly disclosed for their termination.
In a statement to 760 News, Imperial County Public Information Officer Eddie Lopez confirmed the decision.
“Imperial County can confirm that the employment of both the former County Executive Officer and the former Clerk of the Board has been terminated,” Lopez stated. “These actions were taken following internal assessments and in accordance with County procedures.”
Although he did not provide further details due to personnel confidentiality, Lopez emphasized the County’s commitment to moving forward.
“The decisions reflect the County’s ongoing commitment to integrity, accountability, and effective governance,” he said. “The Board of Supervisors and County leadership are focused on moving forward with stability and transparency, ensuring that County operations and public services continue without disruption.”
No interim appointments have been announced as of publication.
