Central Spartans Kick Off Season 1–0 With 47–14 Win Over Jurupa Hills
The Central Spartans kicked off their first home game of the season Friday night, taking down Jurupa Hills 47–14 to start the year 1–0.
Emiliano Morales got the Spartans rolling with a 43-yard touchdown catch, the first score of the season. Joshua Garcia followed with an 18-yard run to make it 13–0, and senior Matthew Lizaola added back-to-back touchdowns — one on the ground and one through the air — putting Central up 27–0 at halftime.
The Spartans didn’t slow down after the break. Lizaola broke through again for an eight-yard touchdown run before Garcia took off for a 40-yard score and quarterback Luis Jiménez muscled in from two yards out. Jurupa Hills managed two touchdowns of their own, but the Spartan defense, led by Lizaola, Garcia, and Ryan Smith, never let the game get close.
Valley Sports Network named Smith, Lizaola, and Garcia as players of the game for their strong defensive play and big moments on offense.
With the win, Central starts the season strong at 1–0, giving the home crowd plenty to cheer about and showing they’re ready for what’s ahead this year.
