Local Business Shut Down After Multi-Agency Inspection Reveals Narcotics and Code Violations

Calexico, CA — On September 3, 2025, detectives and Code Enforcement officers conducted an inspection at the VIP Book Store and Arcade, located at 26 W. 5th Street in Calexico. The inspection led to the discovery of suspected narcotics use and sales, along with multiple code violations.

Fire Department personnel were called to the business, where they identified fire hazards, illegal construction, and additional health and safety code violations. As a result, the building was “red-tagged,” deemed unsafe for occupancy, and ordered closed until further notice.

Authorities also seized suspected narcotics and paraphernalia consistent with narcotics sales.
